It all started when…

Professor Donald Everett’s vision and energy were instrumental in the establishment of the Monte Vista Historic District. Professor Everett’s “San Antonio’s Monte Vista: Architecture and Society in a Gilded Age” is the primary resource for the history of the District and has been relied on extensively for the information included in this web site..

Upon Professor Everett's passing in 2004, the Board of Directors of the Monte Vista Historical Association voted to rename the annual scholarship given to the UTSA School of Architecture the Donald. E. Everett Scholarship. This highly deserved recognition of Professor Everett's significant contribution to the founding of the Monte Vista Historical Association and his great contribution to preserving this Historic District ensures the education of future generations of architects.
